Chakra Balancing Yoga Series

Pan African Studies Community Education Program (PASCEP) Temple University 

Chakra is a Sanskrit word that means wheel. There are seven Chakra in the body, each represents different aspect of our spiritual, emotional and mental health. When our Chakra points are imbalanced or blocked we experience illness, instability and other negative side effects. The practice of yoga helps keep Chakraenergy flowing freely. During this workshop we will cultivate balance through chakra focused yoga and meditation sequences.  This is a perfect class for those who are just beginning their yoga practice and those who want to learn a more about the dynamics of the Chakra centers.   Students should bring a yoga mats.

Full Moon Yoga

In mythology the moon is personified as a feminine being, a shapeshifter, slinking away from a full orb to a mere sliver and back again. Yet, despite the eternal flux, her identity remains constant. She balances darkness and light in always shifting proportions. Her cycles lead the way for others to follow. From the ocean’s tides to women’s bodies, there is an undeniable feminine energy attached to mother moon.

The few days before a full moon is a beautiful time to spend in reflection; noting what serves you and what does not, setting new heartfelt intentions and partaking in a slower more meditative lunar yoga practice. This 90 minute class will begin with yoga postures that warm up the body before cooling down into a yin sequence that will help participants harness powerful lunar energies. The last 30 minutes of class will be dedicated to decorating "moon candles," which we will energize with our personal intentions during the full moon.
